The celebration of Earth Day on April 22nd began in the United States in 1970 and was the brainchild of Senator Gaylord Nelson, who had long pondered about finding a way to "put the environment into the political 'limelight' once and for all" . Earth Day is a perfect time to reflect about what you are doing to help protect the environment. There are many ways that you can celebrate alone and with others.
1. Plant trees
種樹
As the date also roughly coincides with U.S. Arbor Day, over time Earth Day has taken on the role of tree-planting. Planting trees helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, cleans pollution, secures soil in place to prevent erosion, and provides homes for a lot of biodiversity.
2. Reduce, reuse and recycle all day long
Buy as little as possible and avoid items that come in lots of packaging. Support local growers and producers of food and products - these don't have to travel as far and so reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Take your drink container with you, and don't use any disposable plates or cutlery. Recycle all the things you do use for the day or find other uses for things that you no longer use. Carry a cloth bag for carrying things in and recycle your plastic bags.
3. Rid litter
Rid litter from our roadways. Many groups use the weekend of Earth Day to clear roadways, highways and neighborhood streets of litter that has accumulated since the last clean-up day. Many companies donate gloves and bags for clean-up groups and villages organize bag pick ups. Once the group has collected the trash and placed the recycled bags along the road, get the village public works department to pick the bags up. It's a wonderful community project. Great for scout troops, rotary clubs and the like.
4. Sing or listen to "Earth" songs
There are many Earth Day song lyrics available on the Internet. Many follow well-known tunes. These make a fantastic classroom activity and help younger children to become interested in environmental topics. For listening, iTunes has many songs about the Earth for downloading: try searching for words such as "planet", "Earth", "endangered", "pollution" etc. One example being "Earth Day" by Devin Townsend.
5. Wear green and/or brown
Dress in environmental colors for the day; think "tree"! Wear badges if you have them that carry pithy summaries of your environmental views.
6. Engage others in conversations about your environmental concerns
Don't be bossy or pushy, just tell people some facts and then explain your feelings about them. Encourage them to respond and if they have no opinions or they seem to not know much, help them learn some more by imparting your environmental knowledge in a friendly and helpful manner.
7. Ride your bike
Use your bicycle or other forms of human powered transportation to commute to work or school and to run errands.
8. Remember: Every day is Earth Day
Anything to help our environment is a perfect thing to do on Earth Day and every day. Don't restrict yourself to just one day a year; learn about how you can make a difference to environmental protection all the time. And put it into practice - every day!

My Definition of Success It is easy to describe success in terms of money, fame and reputation. But I believe that success is not external. I believe that success comes from within. My definition of success is to be true to yourself, and be true to others. That means, that you must cherish your personal ideal even in the face of adversity. I also believe that success is not discriminatory. Success is not restricted to such a class of people, in fact, it may be achieved by any person irrespective of his race, creed, gender and economic background.
A good example of success is that of Beethoven. He is one of the world's most famous composers, yet he was deaf. He could not hear the majestic pieces of music that he created. Yet, in the face of this adversity, he was able to maintain his ideals--that of composing music. To exemplify what success means to me, I pose a question to all of you. What brings us together here today? I believe that it is the beauty of the spoken word. The effect of pause and the sound of rhetoric are unique to the spoken word. I believe the beauty of the spoken word is even stronger for those who have difficulty in expressing themselves. These people are reclusive and had their emotions hidden within them.
I once went to Australia and I saw two pictures, Once was drawn by a normal child, the other was drawn by a child with social inhibitions. The picture drawn by the normal child was simple and plain. The other was life-like, full of details and imagination. What this shows is that these are ideas, emotions and feelings that are locked internally in thesechildren. My ideal is to be the key, spreading the beauty of the spoken words to these children. These children have been neglected, but I feel that I can and should help these children to find themselves and be able to express themselves. I realize that this is a difficult task, and there are many obstacles on the way. But I believe in my ideals and I will stick to them--even in the face of adversity. We should never have a premature abortion of ideals--let the child, let our ideals, stand the challenge. For a life without ideals is not living. Thank you!

Good afternoon everyone,Today I would like to talk about the importance of time
management. Time is one of the most precious resources we have, yet we often find ourselves wasting it or not using it effectively.
Effective time management can help us achieve our goals, reduce stress, and improve our overall quality of life. When we manage our time well, we are able to prioritize our tasks, meet our deadlines, and have time for the things that matter most to us.
However, poor time management can have negative consequences. It can lead to missed deadlines, poor performance, and increased stress. We may find ourselves overwhelmed and struggling to keep up with our responsibilities.
So how can we improve our time management skills? The first step is to identify our priorities and set goals. We can then create a schedule or a to-do list to help us stay organized and focused. It’s important to break down large tasks into smaller, manageable ones, and to allocate time for both work and leisure activities.
We can also eliminate or minimize distractions that eat away at our time. This can mean turning off our phones or social media notifications while working, or delegating tasks to others when possible. And don’t forget to take breaks and rest – it’s important to recharge and refocus in order to be productive. In conclusion, time management is a crucial skill that can help us achieve success and happiness in all areas of our lives. By setting goals, creating schedules, minimizing distractions, and taking breaks, we can make the most of our time and achieve our full potential. Thank you.

Dear schoolmates,
As I'm graduating, I'd like to write this letter to express my feelings before leaving school. Looking back to the past three years, I find that I have become more mature. I have been aware of the importance of learning knowledge, which is beneficial to my future. What impressed me a lot is the help that my teachers and parents offered when I was in trouble, which supported me during the period. Moreover, I regretted that I didn't work harder. From time to time, facing the pressure, I quarreled with my parents, about which I feel sorry and regretful. To live up to my parents' expectation, I'll make my effort to work harder in university. It's no doubt that there'll be many challenges waiting for me. However, no matter how difficult it is, I will spare no effort to overcome it.
When it comes to the suggestion that I can give to you, I hold the belief that in no case should you set aside the study. So far as I'm concerned, it is the determination of working hard that makes you succeed. I wish all of you would realize your dreams.

Good morning everyone,Today I want to talk about the importance of setting goals. Goals give us direction and purpose, and help us achieve our dreams and aspirations.
Setting goals helps us identify what we want to accomplish and create a roadmap to get there. This means breaking down larger goals into smaller, more manageable ones, and creating a plan of action to achieve them. This can help us stay motivated and focused, and track our progress along the way.
Having clear, measurable goals can also improve our self-esteem and confidence. When we meet our goals, we feel a sense of accomplishment and pride, which can boost our self-image and help us develop a positive outlook on life.
Setting goals can also help us prioritize our time and resources, and make better decisions. When we have a clear understanding of what we want to achieve, we can focus our energy and resources on the things that matter most, and avoid distractions and time-wasters.
In addition, setting goals can help us overcome obstacles and setbacks. When we encounter challenges or setbacks along the way, having a clear goal in mind can help us stay committed and persistent, and find ways to overcome the obstacles and move towards our desired outcome.
In conclusion, setting goals is an essential part of achieving success and fulfillment in life. By identifying what we want to achieve, creating a plan of action, and staying committed and persistent, we can achieve our dreams and aspirations and live a rewarding and fulfilling life. Thank you.

Good afternoon everyone,Today I want to talk about the importance of reading. Reading is not only a great source of knowledge and information, but also a way to develop our imagination, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
Firstly, reading helps us expand our knowledge and understanding of the world around us. Through reading, we can learn about different cultures, historical events, and ideas that we may not have encountered otherwise. This can help us develop a broader perspective and a deeper understanding of the world we live in.
Secondly, reading can also enhance our imagination and creativity. When we read, we enter into a world created by the author and are able to visualize scenes and characters in our minds. This can help us develop our own creativity and imagination, as well as empathize with others by putting ourselves in their shoes.
Thirdly, reading can improve our critical thinking skills. When we read, we are exposed to different ideas and perspectives, and we are forced to think critically about the information presented to us. This can help us develop our ability to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information – skills that are valuable in both academic and professional settings.
In conclusion, reading is an essential skill that can help us expand our knowledge and understanding of the world, enhance our imagination and creativity, and improve our critical thinking skills. By reading regularly, we can enrich our lives and become more informed, empathetic, and engaged citizens. Thank you.

Dear students:How are you! In the previous several exams, I have gained good results, first of all thanks to my efforts, of course, learning is also very important. Next, I gave you about my learning experience.I feel good in order to learn first-come interested in learning. As the saying goes: "Interest is the best teacher." With interest will be motivated to learn, the more naturally learn better. Second, in order to improve learning, we must master the correct way to learn, learn to digest, giving top priority, this is the most important.
In learning, our minds must have three words - "Why!" Smart people know that; wise men know to listen to; smart people know to ask. The last is sure to be hard work, this is the most important, even Thomas Edison said "Genius needs ninety-nine percent perspiration."School should seriously lectures, and pay attention to more independent thinking, do not know want to ask, to exercise their thinking skills.
Careful and meticulous to teacher assignments, must not be careless. There is, to take notes, preview before clathe best, first have a preliminary understanding of the text, which for the next clacan more easily absorb. After-school must also be reviewed, and consolidate the knowledge about good teachers, and lay a solid foundation. The ancients have said: "Reviewing the Old, to be a teacher." Not also the truth? Best to pay attention to work and rest. Only care about the death of reading is of no use to let my mind relax properly for the job such as playing baseball, listening to music, watch TV news. Finally, I want to say "do not you go stronger than others, then you have to and they are better than weak, you challenged yourself to stay on a par before himself, and you will reap better than others."I finished the speech Thank you!

I can’t stop thinking that these children are my age, that it makes a tremendous difference where you are born, that I could be one of those children living in the Favellas of Rio; I could be a child starving in Somalia; a victim of war in the Middle East or a beggar in India.
I’m only a child yet I know if all the money spent on war was spent on ending poverty and finding environmental answers, what a wonderful place this earth would be!
At school, even in kindergarten, you teach us to behave in the world. You teach us: not to fight with others, to respect others, to clean up our mess, not to hurt other creatures, to share – not be greedy.
Then why do you go out and do the things you tell us not to do?
Do not forget why you’re attending these conferences, who you’re doing this for — we are your own children. You are deciding what kind of world we will grow up in. Parents should be able to comfort their children by saying "everyting’s going to be alright" , "we’re doing the best we can" and "it’s not the end of the world".
But I don’t think you can say that to us anymore. Are we even on your list of priorities? My father always says "You are what you do, not what you say."
Well, what you do makes me cry at night. You grown ups say you love us. I challenge you, please make your actions reflect your words. Thank you for listening

Everyone is attracted by beauty and beauty is powerful. But what is true beauty? Perhaps you can get the answer from the following story.
This morning I went to the market to buy some vegetables with my parents. On the way we all highly praised a young man in western-style clothes and leather shoes who was riding by. But he rode so fast that he knocked an old lady down carelessly.Instead of stopping, he pretended not to see this and rode away quickly. We were all very angry with the young man. To our happiness, a girl in plain dress ran forward at once, helped the lady up and took her home. We all praised the girl.
From this we know we cannot judge a person by his appearance. A person who is dressed beautifully may not have a beautiful soul. Only a person who has a beautiful soul is really beautiful.

DEFINITION OF CRAZINESS "Crazy" stands for the human spirit of transcending oneself. It stands for the single-minded pursuit of dreams. It stands for the total devotion to your work. It stands for the passion of commitment to reach the goal. Once you have this craziness, you can achieve anything you want. Let alone learning English!

Ladies and Gentlemen , Good afternoon! I’m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. today my topic is “youth”. I hope you will like it , and found the importance in your youth so that more cherish it.
First I want to ask you some questions:
1、 Do you know what is youth?
2、 How do you master your youth?
Youth
Youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . Nobody grows old merely by a number of years . We grow old by deserting our ideals.
Years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm
wrinkles the soul . Worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .
Whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living . In the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty ,hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .
When the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.
Thank you!
You may wonder if I believe in afterlife. My answer is:
I know nothing about my previous life, so I dare not make improper comments on afterlife. But I do hope there’s afterlife! Because our present life is so short that so many things slip away before our proper understanding. I have so many dreams, so many wishes, so many ambitions, as well as so many regrets and concerns. If there were no afterlife, all of them will remain unrealized!
I’m not contented with the present commonplace life, I’m very much attached to the affections that should have been mine but have been washed away by the hurrying time, and I yearn for the perfection and maturity if I could start all over again. So believe it or not, I’d rather there were afterlife.

Hi everybody.
Beauty usually refers to what appeals to the eye. A nice and well built girl is regarded as beautiful. A bunch of vigorous flowers are also considered as beautiful. A splendid waterfall coming down from a mountain is as well looked on as beautiful.
Beauty also refers to what appeals to the mind. The virtue of the Chinese nation-industry and bravery are taken as beautiful, because it helped to produce such a magnificent culture in the world. Einstein's theory of relativity is also perceived as beautiful, for it explains many natural phenomena so perfectly.
Beauty is around us. If you keep an eye or pay some attention, it is never difficult to find something beautiful somewhere about you. Wonderful natural spots, historical relics, fine arts, splendid buildings, and kind people are just a few inches away.
thank you.

Why does football get people into a frenzy?
Who is your idol? It may be Napoleon, Picasso, or Michael Jackson. But who is my idol? Can you guess? It is Ronaldo. He is the No. 1 super star of football.
Football is a game in which 22 people chase one ball around a large field. The aim of the game is to get the ball into the net to score.
After all, it’s such an easy game, and yet people go crazy mad over it. The answer lies in two facts. One is the game itself. Sometimes it is beyond any description. Football is a game of passes and techniques, passion and love, more importantly, unity is the key---the whole team working as one, united they will never be defeated.
The European’s style. of play is like a Waltz, the Brazilian like a Samba, and the passionate Argentineans play as if they are doing a Tango. Football is so unpredictable, so unbelievable. You will never know who will win until the last minute. Especially when suddenly there is a goal, the fans who have been sitting on the edge of their seats, will be wild with joy and excitement; and the losers with disappointed hearts will despair over their teams.
The other is of course the super stars. Each one has his own personality, just like my idol Ronaldo. When he smiles, we all smile with him. Who can forget that buck-toothed smile, or that unique hairstyle. during the 20xx World Cup. Ronaldo was born to a poor family. He has set an example to children who can’t afford a pair of shoes, but have talent and a passion for football. He gives them confidence and hope of a better future.
Football is the game that wins everyone’s heart and the best game ever invented.
